The Simplest Triangle Shawl
by Liz Sorenson
This is an easy garter stitch shawl, with or without fringe, increased from 3 stitches at the Cast On to as wide and tall as you like. (You can even stop when you want to make a kerchief or shawlette.) The pattern is written for 1) DK or thinner yarns, and 2) Worsted weight yarn (in stripes or not). You can use any yarn, but swatch to decide the drape of the fabric. Because garter stitch is very stretchy you should use a needle size at least a few sizes larger than is recommended for the yarn weight to create drape in the fabric, and with the thinner yarns – fingering, sport, or DK, using size US 13 creates a lacy net-like effect.
