This shawl has a little bit of everything to keep you entertained: easy garter stitch, stripes, slipped stitches, short rows, and eyelets. It highlights two beautiful skeins of hand-dyed yarn and adds a hint of whimsy with the decorative leaves added to the ends of the top edge.

This shawl calls for two skeins of fingering weight yarn. You will use all or nearly all of the main color, approximately 400 yds./366 m, and about three-quarters of the contrast color. Though gauge is not critical, even slight differences in gauge can have an impact on the amount of yarn used. If you are working to a different gauge, be sure you have enough yarn (particularly of the main color) to complete your shawl.

To knit this pattern, you will need to know how to:

  • do a provisional cast on (any method),
  • work directional increases (m1L and m1R),
  • work short rows (using any method),
  • work simple decreases (k2tog and ssk), and
  • work a centered double decrease.
