The snow drop bonnet
This sweet bonnet is constructed by knitting one long rectangle, sewing the back closed, and then picking up stitches along the bottom and front to finish the edges. The body of the bonnet is worked in moss stitch with a simple cable twist with bobbles. The bottom edge has a 1x1 rib, and the front edge, along with the ties, are worked in i-cord.
SIZES:
Tiny baby, Newborn, Baby, Toddler, Child and Adult
Materials needed for this project:
- DK weight yarn 55-200 metres
- 4.5mm needles, double pointed needles, and a cable needle
- Stitch marker and darning needle
I like to use DROPS cotton merino. Merino/cotton blends give a lovely soft finish for a baby, as well as having a nice stretch to it. But any yarn with wool as its main fibre should work.
Gauge
23sts x 34 rows = 10cm or 4 inches in stockinette. If you don’t meet the gauge, try using a different size needle.
