These are plain stockinette socks with a fun heel treatment and ribbing on the top. If you watch The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, you can see my inspiration in the odd way Cesare is wrapped up.

The socks are knit in the round using magic loop, 2 circulars or DPNs. The directions are written in terms of “sole” and “instep” stitches, so it doesn’t matter which method of knitting in the round you use, so long as you note which are the sole stitches and which are the instep.

Though the pattern is written for one size (US Women’s 9), you can change the stitch count to make the socks any size, as the stripe pattern has no bearing on the stitch count.
