This shawl is an asymmetric triangle knitted sideways from a few cast on stitches. It is mostly garter stitch with rows of slipped stitches to create the pattern and finished with an i-cord bind off. It’s a simple relaxing knit.

Yarn choice: Can be made in any sock weight yarn. When choosing your colours, it is important to have a good contrast (light vs dark in very different colours) between the MC and CC. Resist the temptation to buy two yarns that complement each other because they share colours in common as the pattern will be quickly lost. A very variegated yarn paired with a neutral would also work well.

You will need:

Yarn:
MC: Sock weight, 565 m or 618 yds. Shown in Malabrigo sock, colour Ochre.
CC: Sock weight 221 m or 242 yds. Shown in Malabrigo sock, colour Aubergine.

Needles and notions:
3.5 mm (US 4) circular needle minimum 32” / 80 cm long, or needle required to obtain gauge.
Tapestry needle to sew in ends.

Gauge:
25 sts and 46 rows to 4” in garter st, after blocking. Gauge is not critical but differences may result in a change in final measurements and/or yarn requirements.

Size:
Wingspan: 80” (203 cm), depth: 19” (48 cm).

Stitches:
Knit, k2tog, k2tog tbl, kfbf, slip, icord.
