If, like me, you have been in urgent need of using your finger tips to do something while out and about in the cold - answer the phone, get a dog poo bag ready, find your keys - only to be thwarted by your gloves, this is my solution. Rather elegant I think, if weird.

These glittens (glove / mittens) are in honour of David Lynch, who’s other worldliness I love.

Materials:

  • a set of double pointed knitting needles the correct size to get gauge. I used 3mm needles. Don’t take my word for it - check with a gauge swatch. Knitters’ gauge varies by 20%!
  • a set of double pointed knitting needles two sizes smaller for the ribbing.
  • the chroma nima yarn kit for this pattern OR
  • 25g of black cashmere yarn, 750m / 100g or a fibre such as merino
  • 10g of white cashmere yarn, 750m / 100g or a fibre such as merino
  • a few metres each of a gradient of 5 yellow to red yarns in the same yarn as above
  • a few metres each of a gradient of 5 blue yarns in the same yarn as above.
  • at least two stitch markers.

Gauge:
33 stitches and 42 rounds in 10cms / 4in, working in stocking stitch.

Size:
Small: length including cuff 24cm, palm circumference 18cm.
Large: length including cuff 27cm, palm circumference 22cm.
