This is a ribbed cowl that can be worn around the neck, over the head or as a shoulder cozy. The pattern is written, with the sizing easily adjustable, based on a measurement most women know well. No math involved.

The cowl requires approximately 500 grams two (2) skeins of 250 grams each of the very popular “arm knitting” super jumbo single-ply yarn found on ebay for as little as $6/hank including shipping. If you wanted to try that yarn or someone gifted you a couple of skeins, this is the perfect pattern. Also required: one size 35 needle circular at least 30 inches length.

As for stitches, this is a beginners pattern. It features the most basic stitches, with instructions on how to manipulate them simply and to best effect. This is important in single or large ply yarn, which needs to be treated very gently.

Best of all, you can knit this cowl, start to finish, in about 4 hours. Which means by spending one afternoon with $20 worth of yarn and needles, you can have that bulky, gorgeous “statement cowl” look. In fact, as near as we can tell, it makes every wearer into a bit of a Super Model.
