When I recently was given the opportunity to create a design featuring Knit Picks Stroll Hand Paint I was inspired by the colorway “Coffee Shop” to create an homage to a turtle shell. I paired Coffee Shop with another great Knit Picks product–Stroll Tonal in the Cucumber colorway to create the lozenge look of the terrapin shell. The construction of the gaiter is very easy. In fact, the only reason I didn’t rate the pattern as suitable for a beginner is because it is worked in the round! Only one color is ever used at a time, and the trick I use to join the light colored lines is simple but amazingly effective!

The Terrapin Gaiter can be worn three ways. Stick your head through the tube and scrunch it around your neck; or, pull it up over your nose (suitable for a brisk day or a quick way to hide from….well, whoever you need to hide from); or, pull it even further over your head for an impromptu hood.
