The Traveler is a rib look, top down cape or poncho made with 600-800 yards of worsted or Aran weight yarn with a size 9 (5.5 mm) circular knitting needle. It knits up quickly. Begun by knitting flat, joined to form an offset placket and knit in the round. Split for arm openings and finished with ribbing that can be enhanced with a drop stitch rib detail. It can be worked totally flat as a shawl or in the round with no arm splits after the placket. Add a couple fasteners to the placket to finish the cape. Unblocked size (600 yards) measured 18” neck x 18” long x 63” wide at bottom. It grew with blocking to 22” long x 71” at bottom. Use 800 yards for a longer cape.
