Slouch hats are so popular right now. I got the idea for this one when I saw a windmill on TV. Using chunky weight yarn or 2 strands of regular yarn this hat works up really quickly.

If you want it really airy try using one strand of yarn and adding extra rounds to it. This hat is a great addition to any wardrobe.

This hat will fit a teen to adult woman

The chain 3 at the beginning of each round counts as your 1st double crochet.

Gauge for pattern is as follows:
With J hook, 11 double crochets and 6 rows should make a 4 inch square.

Remember that you do not work into the chain spaces.

If you don’t want a very tight fit on the brim then use the optional decrease round.
If you want your hat to be longer or baggier, add more rounds before the brim.

I used a chunky 5 weight yarn, but you can also use 2 strands of 4ply worsted weight or 2 strands of Australian 8ply yarn.
I would love to see any finished pictures as well.

Thank you for choosing my pattern. Enjoy!
