The Thistle Sweater is knitted top down in a double strand highland wool and mohair to give a light fabric garment that works great for cooler summer nights or an under layer sweater for the winter. The loose neck makes this sweater light to wear and a great layer for people experiencing wool sensitivity. Because the sweater is knitted top down it is easy to costumize to your particular liking by making it longer or more cropped. Because the fabric of the sweater is very light I can knit the entire sweater on short circular needles (4.5mm 40cm) and enjoy the stitches flow easily on the needles but it can also be knitted on longer circular needles and the sleeves on double pointed needles. The yardage in the pattern is for a waist length and ¾ sleeve sweater between 860- 1,075m). For a cooler sweater a stand of blackhill cottonwool and mohair gives a nice soft fabric or knit a sleeveless summer slip over knit in double strand thin cotton yarn.
