Thornbury Scarf
Love the look of traditional cables but not quite so keen on juggling a cable needle? This mock cable scarf knitting pattern could be just the project you’re looking for.
This long scarf, designed by Claire King, is knitted in a mock cable pattern that’s easy to work and which brings a dynamic texture to the fabric. The scarf is edged with garter stitch borders, and the stitch pattern forms a wavy edge along the top and bottom.
Knitted in Aran weight yarn, it works up at a satisfying pace, making it a lovely project for the colder months. The finished scarf is cosy and warm without feeling too bulky, so you can wear it wrapped up outdoors or draped around your neck when you head indoors.
The pattern was written for DROPS Alaska, an aran-weight pure wool, which comes in 38 shades including neutrals and warm brights, but it can also be knitted using chunky yarn and the appropriate needle size.
