We designed our Thornton Road Mitts using an easy slip stitch pattern. Using slipped stitches with a hand-dyed yarn can often produce beautiful results. Some hand-dyed yarns will “pool” colors depending on the dyeing technique and the stitch count. We don’t think you will find pooling with this yarn, but a slip stitch pattern is one to keep in a knitting library of patterns!

Although there is a generous 250 yards on the skein, our model used about 135 yards which makes it tricky to get two pairs out of a skein. (The slip stitch pattern produces a little smaller gauge requiring a few more stitches in the pattern.) One more thing to keep in mind is that superwash will tend to “loosen” with wearing and washing. If you are knitting these mitts for a smaller hand por like a very snug fit, you may want to go down a needle size.
