Mittens with a thumb for baby.

Out of the newborn phase, babies want to grab things, and thumbs help. These mittens are chubby-proportioned to fit the hands of babies up to 12 months, and have a baby-shaped thumb.

Mirrored, left and right mittens with gusseted thumb.

I recommend you join them to a length of i-cord or otherwise attach them to the clothes so that they don’t get lost.

What you’ll need
3 mm (US 2½ ) circular needle or DPNs.
85 metres / 93 yards of fingering weight yarn of each MC and CC. A tapestry needle, two bits of cotton yarn, a stitch marker.
Skills
Casting on, knitting and purling, working in the round, grafting.
Size
One size: 6-12 months.
