Thús 2 is a larger scarf version of one-skein loop Thús. The Frisian word Thús means home and, like its little sister, Thús 2 has an all-over stitch pattern resembling rows of tiny houses. Only this new version is wider and longer, and has narrow garter stitch edgings instead of being closed to a loop. Thús 2 is again a celebration of the roof over our heads – the safe haven we all need.

Just like the earlier version, Thús 2 is a free pattern – no strings attached. But if you’d like to do something in return, please consider making a donation to an organisation supporting refugees, other homeless people, or children/adults in unsafe home situations. Thank you and happy knitting!

Pattern notes
Thús 2 is knit flat (back and forth). All patterning is done on the right side. Wrong-side rows are simply purled with a few knit stitches on either side.

Yarn
A fingering weight yarn with about 190 yds/175 m to 50 g. The pattern indicates how to adapt the length in case you have a little less or more yarn.

Shown here in
4 balls of Pascuali ‘Balayage’, shade 605 ‘Lima’.

Needles & Notions
3.5 mm (US 4) knitting needles; a spare needle one or two sizes up is not essential, but may come in handy for bind-off; tapestry needle; blocking wires; T-pins.

Gauge
24 sts x 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) in pattern stitch after blocking. (Gauge is not crucial, but differences will affect the size of the finished scarf.)

Finished measurements
38 cm/15” wide x 165 cm/65” long
