The Tidepool Mitts are designed using the December 2020 Yarn Journey Club Colorways by Serendipitous Wool Co. & Birch Hollow Fibers.

The beachcomber has been working the shoreline for a few hours on this chilly afternoon. Yet their bag is empty of treasure. Hoping not to return home empty-handed, they decide to walk just a little farther. Then they see it… a small tidepool. The beachcomber slips their sandals off and steps into the pool as a tiny crab skitters away. When the clouds of sand settle, the beachcomber peers down at the collection of ocean trinkets and sees a small glistening stone. They reach in, retrieve it and dry it on the palms of their fingerless mitts. The stone is round and has been worn smooth over time. The beachcomber tucks the stone into their mitt for safekeeping. Then while putting their sandals back on, they think of how their friends often consider them to be something of a magpie with their collections, but that’s totally ok. These fingerless mitts are worked side to side with fingering weight yarn held double. The textures are reminiscent of the stones and waves in that little tidepool.

Materials Needed
-Two 50g skeins of fingering weight yarn in contrasting colors
-4.00mm (US H/8) hook, or hook one size smaller
-4.50mm (US I/9) hook, or size to obtain gauge
-Yarn needle
-4 removable stitch markers
-Measuring tape
