The Tie Top is worked flat in front and back pieces from the bottom up. The garment contains a background texture of horizontal stripes and a stockinette necktie shape in the center front. Shoulders are shaped with short rows. Once front and back pieces are completed, shoulders are seamed using a three-needle bind off and sides are seamed with a mattress stitch. Stitches are picked up around the armholes and a small edging is applied. Stitches are picked up around the neckline and a collar is worked in double stockinette stitch. A series of bound off and cast on stitches creates an open split between collar and body in the front center. The knot of the necktie is worked in the round and once completed folded over the top of the collar and secured.
