I used 2 colors when I did my tee (color block technique), but the different stitch textures used will look great even if you choose to use a single color. The pattern does suggest where to switch colors, but you can play with colors any way you desire. The Picture 1 with the construction process also shows colors which I used on my tee, just to visually help you in case you choose the same approach.
