Tillamook Ripple
Tillamook (TILL-uh-mook) rhymes with “book” and is a Native American word for either “people of the village of Nekelim” in the Chinook language or “land of many waters” in the Coast Salish language. It’s also the name of several places in Oregon including a forest, county, city and a dairy co-op that has a BIG visitor center with free tours and free samples!
We always have Tillamook cheddar in the house which explains the yarn color I chose!
I developed this reversible pattern after struggling with an error-filled 1912 pattern that looked messy even after the errors were fixed. Tillamook Ripple is what I wished the pattern had been. It has 10 pattern rows and a multiple of 8 stitches + 4 extra stitches.
The swatch is 36 stitches wide (7 inches) wide blocked at gauge.
Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl and bind off.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
60 yards of Lion Brand 24/7 worsted yarn will make 10 inches of this swatch at gauge.
