TILTING RIB SCARF

Pattern Update in the shop NOW!
I have retooled the pattern slightly to make it easier to read, and most importantly added a fancy new chart to the PDF. All you visual knitters should love that!

The diagonal ribbing on this scarf tilts in alternating directions giving it interesting dimensional texture. Don’t be daunted by the many lines of instructions, there is a visual logic to this pattern and it knits up surprisingly fast. The pattern is reversible, so there is no ugly side, which is great for scarves as you wear them in three dimensions.

The pattern is written so that once you complete the instructions you just start at the beginning again for a seamless pattern repeat.

The unisex design is perfect for husbands/boyfriends/fathers/brothers. The texture is interesting enough without being too flashy.

The gauge of this scarf is not terribly important, as there really is no fit to worry about. For reference though, using the Cascade 128 Superwash worsted weight wool per 2 inches it was 9 stitches and 10 rows. The width measures 9 inches. You can truly customize it by varying the yarn weight and needle size.
Imagine how warm it would be in a big fat chunky wool, or how sleek as a skinny scarf in a beautiful fingering weight.

Knitting a flat scarf in the gauge listed you will need:
✴Straight OR Circular US 9 Needles (5.5mm) Or needles to match the yarn you choose.
✴Approx. 450 yards of an Aran weight wool. (recommended yarn: Cascade 128 Superwash 100% Merino)
✴Darning needle for finishing.

Please note! For longer or shorter scarves you would need more or less wool. When I knit the long infinity scarf I used about 2 1/2 balls of cascade 128.
