The Timaru Cowl incorporates travelling lines of twisted stitches on a reverse stockinette background. Done with a super bulky yarn at 1.5 sts/inch, the cowl can be completed in a few hours - making it a perfect last minute gift idea.

I have only offered one size option for the pattern. However, the size can easily be modified by adding increments of 10 stitches. Be aware that you will need more yarn, though.

Materials Used:

  • Outlaw Yarn Queen Bee - one hank
  • Size 19US (15-16mm) 24” circular needles
  • One stitch marker
  • Tapestry needle

How difficult is this pattern? You should know how to knit in the round on circular needles. And, I recommend practicing a Left Twist before trying this pattern. Left Twists are not difficult, and there are instructions included in the pattern, but if you would like to know more about twisted stitches prior to purchasing the pattern, I suggest this video.
