For me, there is nothing better than a pair of socks knitted using pretty mini skeins of yarn. Combine this yarny joy with a festive theme, and I’m in knitting heaven!

With this design, I wanted to create something that gives you the excitement and anticipation of the happy times that are shared over the winter celebrations.

The Tinsel Socks embody all of these cosy feelings. The sweet detail on every colour change is simple to work, and makes me think of tinsel winding it’s way around a Christmas tree.

You can of course, knit these socks at any time of year and using whatever colours you like ! An Autumn or Halloween theme for example, would be fabulous.

Sock Details

The socks feature a pretty slipped stitch detail that is worked at every colour change. This is fun and simple to work. I used a traditional heel flap and gusset, with my Cottage Toe.

Sizes

The pattern comes in 3 sizes - Small (56 sts), Medium (64 sts) and Large (72 sts).
As the design includes slipped stitches, you may want to go up a needle size if your gauge is tighter than that stated in the pattern (8.5 sts to the inch).

Yarn

You will require 5 x 20g mini skeins in fingering weight. The mini skeins I used had 87 yards per 20g.
Note - If you are knitting the size large, you may find you need a little more than 20g for the cuffs, heels and toes.

I would recommend you choose yarn colours that are tonal or solid.
