Jimothy is a Raccoon is a real life cryptid, and if you’ve seen any of my other patterns you know I love cryptids. In Seattle on Monday July 13th 2026 Kiana Hall took a video of a little raccoon with a congenital spinal deformity, posted the video online and the rest is history. Jimothy went viral and has become an internet legend. Since the viral video, folks have come forward sharing sightings and origin stories about Seattle’s new mascot. This little fuzzball has brought a lot of joy, so why not knit yourself up a tiny pocket version to bring Jimothy along with you on your adventures?

Yarns:
Fingering weight yarn in the following colors:
Grey: 25 yds
Black: 15 yds

Plus 2 yds of fingering weight or embroidery floss in brown for the eyes

Tools & Materials:
US 1, 2.25 mm double pointed knitting needles
Darning needle for sewing up
Round marker
Scissors
Stuffing or yarn scraps

Stitches used:
BO: bind off
CO: cast on
FO: finish off
K: knit
Kfb: knit in the front and back of the same stitch (1 stitch increased)
K2tog: knit two stitches together
M1: make one stitch by picking up the bar between stitches and knitting into it
P: purl
P23tog: purl three stitches together
SSK: slip the next 2 stitches knitwise, place them back on the left needles, knit them together through the back of the stitches
