These adorable stuffed taiko are the perfect gift for the taiko player in your life! They would make a great Christmas tree ornament, keychain, or decorative zipper-pull. They are so small that very little yarn is needed (probably only a few yards of each colour). Examples shown were made with Loops & Threads Woolike (beige, chocolate, and black) but most fingering or light fingering yarns should work just fine.

Pattern includes instructions for both a nagado-style taiko with plain white head and a hira-style taiko with the characteristic Migimawari mitsudomoe symbol often used on odaiko heads. Both are worked seamlessly in the round. Finished object size is approximately 1.5” tall and 1” diameter for the nagado daiko and 1.5” tall and 2” diameter for the ohira daiko.

Additional materials: fiberfill, water bottle caps (nagado) or cedar hanger rings (ohira), or sturdy cardboard.
