These little sleepers are for premature babies - I chose a simple style, as I didn’t want to overwhelm a delicate tiny baby with too much decoration.

The addition of some really pretty buttons and ribbon is enough to give a special touch.

If you are making these for dolls, then of course you can use any yarn you choose, but if you are making these for hospitals or charity groups -
please check with them first to find out if these sleepers are suitable - or if there are any special requirements that you should consider.

I imagine that this little sleeper may be used by a neonatal unit
to give to the bereaved parents of a pre-term baby who do not have clothes that are small enough to fit.

Very tiny babies that are born too soon are very delicate, so it is important that the sleeper is easy to put on - hence the buttons all the way down.
If the gown is to be used in this way then any decoration may be used.
Tiny Angel Sizes can be made by using 4ply yarn instead of DK.

However - if the sleeper is to be used for a premature, small or early baby - you may need to consider important factors …..
for example - yarn with metallic thread is not suitable,
and the hospital may have other requirements about the yarn you use.
Some hospitals prefer self coloured yarn (not the self-patterning yarns that are so popular at the moment).
