This pattern was written for my beginner sock knitting class at 6th Street Fibers in October 2021.

This pattern covers the basics for making a cuff-down sock using a dutch heel and wedge toe in miniature, allowing you to get experience with the techniques without having to use the yarn and time necessary to make an entire sock.

The finished sock is roughly 6 in. long. Any yarn can be used and the tiny sock can serve as a gauge swatch for making a larger sock in the same yarn.

Materials needed:

  • Roughly 35yds/20grams worsted-weight yarn
  • US 8 (5mm) double-pointed needles (This pattern uses a set of 5 needles)
  • 2 stitch markers that you can tell apart
  • Ruler or tape measure
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
