The inspiration for this sock came very early in the Think Outside the Sox contest, but for various reasons it didn’t make the cut and had to wait for this book to make an appearance. The whimsy of a tabi toe, coupled with the idea of traipsing through a field of beautiful tulips, just couldn’t be squelched, so here it is! There is nothing difficult about making this sock…it just takes a bit of time and patience, and it requires a bit more yarn than usual. (A full skein of yarn is used for each sock for the tulips alone.) Dyeing the tulips with Kool-Aid is a perfect way to capture the feathering of red and yellow found in nature. Although a standard toe is also included, I plan on wearing my flip-flops as I tiptoe thru my tulips!
