Tommie is a fun-to-make classic beanie in chunky-weight yarn
with horizontal texture stripes. It also offers creative possibilities for yarn mixing to make a beanie that boasts a tweedy, marl look.

The beanie is worked from the top in joined-and-turned rounds. Add a faux fur pom-pom for a fun touch!

See my Yianni beanie pattern for a worsted version of this design.

NOTES

  1. Gold sample beanie is crocheted in Cloudborn Superwash Merino Bulky in Maize Heather. A bulky yarn with approx. 110 yd./100 g creates a nice, thick fabric for a cozy hat.
  2. You may also use a yarn mix of two or more yarns held together that meet pattern gauge. Marl sample hat uses two worsted weight yarns – Red Heart Roll with It Melange in Catwalk and Lion Brand Fishermen’s Wool in Oatmeal.
  3. For yarn mix hats, you will need the yarn amounts listed above for each yarn used.
