Tooty the Octopus is a beginner-friendly crochet octopus keychain and bag charm featuring playful curling tentacles and beaded suckers for added texture and charm. The tentacles are worked directly onto the body, making this a no-sew crochet pattern. The placement and number of beads can easily be customised, allowing you to create a Tooty that is uniquely your own.

This pattern contains detailed written instructions with step-by-step photographic illustrations to guide you through the construction process. Additional video tutorials for techniques used in the pattern, including the magic ring and crocheting with beads, are linked.

Inspiration

Tooty was inspired by the deep waters {Pige Matut in my mother tongue, thus the name Tooty) and by the reminder that God’s presence reaches places we cannot. The ocean can seem vast, mysterious, and even a little intimidating, yet Scripture reminds us that there is nowhere we can go where the Lord is not already there.

Through Tooty, I wanted to create a small and cheerful companion that serves as a reminder that even in life’s deepest waters, God remains faithful, present, and near.
