This is a generic top down ‘gauge-less’ Faroese pattern with a back panel knit in garter stitch. Lace weight to chunky yarns can be used. No needle size is given, generally 2.5 to 5 mm can be used, knit a swatch and find out :) how much drape you like in your shawl/cape.

Since it is a top down pattern, cast off when you run out of yarn or when shawl is large enough. I have knitted both very short capes with chunky yarns to larger, more traditional Faroese shawls that can be tied at the back.

Pattern is very useful for hand spun yarns, leftovers, add lace stitches and make it your own!

Note: Pattern has not been test knitted by anyone but me. If you find any inconsistencies please drop me a pm as English is not my first language.

Have fun!

Errata: Row 16 is missing a ‘slip marker’ right after the instruction to knit until marker.
