Top-Down Set-In Sleeve Worksheet
This downloadable worksheet is designed to streamline the instructions provided in the Set-In Sleeve chapter of The Knitter’s Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters, which offers instructions for pullovers and cardigans in multiple sizes and gauges. The instructions in the book are interrupted with charts that include all the possible sizes and gauges. Though this is the most efficient way to present all the information, the charts can make it difficult to follow the knitting instructions.
This worksheet includes all the instructions in the Set-In Sleeve chapter of the book (pages 116 to 145), with blanks inserted where you can fill in just the numbers that correspond to your size and gauge. With the blanks filled in, the worksheet reads like standard knitting instructions.
Use the book to transcribe the appropriate numbers throughout the worksheet instructions, then work directly from the worksheet. Unless you need to refer to the book for techniques, you can put it on the shelf and carry just the worksheets in your knitting bag.
As a bonus, the first two pages of the worksheet include links to a helpful video on how to use the book, information on knitting a representative gauge swatch, and instructions for accommodating gauges and sizes not specified in the book.
Similar worksheets are available for the other three chapters in The Knitter’s Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters—Raglan, Set-In Sleeve, and Saddle Shoulder. Each worksheet is $10; get all four for $36.
Please note that while you can use the book without the worksheet, you cannot fill in the worksheet without the book.
