Shawl Construction - This is a crescent-shaped scarf that starts with a unique, stretchy YO (yarnover) Garter Tab Cast On and increases within the various design elements. As we begin our knitting tour, we will knit a series of garter stitch bands, resembling roads, and a lace field of flowers, reminiscent of the many beautiful farms we will see along the way. We will experience the magnificent beauty of the rows of sunflowers and appreciate their blooms dressed in their tour colors. We will climb the majestic mountains, which will remind us of the cyclist’s unbelievable ability, strength, and endurance. There will be more fields of flowers, and some relaxing garter roadways that provide us with a bit of a rest break. As we head toward Paris, the riders and you are getting ready for the final push to the finish and the challenging cobblestones. Hoping you will enjoy your time on this many-day adventure and celebrate the knitting journey. The Tour de France Shawl is the perfect piece to throw over your shoulders on a visit to the French countryside for perhaps a sip of wine or champagne.
