From Simple Knits for Cherished Babies:

This delightful dress for a small girl has nostalgic appeal, particularly if knitted in dusty pink or soft mauve.  Worked in stockinette stitch, the dress is gathered onto a simple yoke with a tiny picot edging detail at the neck.  Knit it in soft fine cotton for summer or cashmere for winter.  Fine organza ribbon ties the back of the dress at the neck, with a simple center slit opening that slides easily over the baby’s head.  A simple garter stitch hem gives body to the base of the skirt.

Additional supplies: Ribbon, approximately 84 cm (33 in) long and 1 cm (1/2 in) wide; sewing needle.

Techniques: Increasing and decreasing, knitting through the back of the loops and making a stitch without leaving a hole (up 1 stitch).
