Trangle Circle Square Granny
I tried to find a pattern for a triangle within a four sided granny square. After searching , my hunt was unsuccessful. I took that as a challenge to try and make it work, and now I share the results with you.
This granny starts with a solid triangle middle, before morphing to a solid circle, and then finally progressing to a solid square.
Crochet equilateral triangles have a reputation for being curly. By the end of this pattern, the square worked manages to reasonably tame that curl. To allow you to judge for yourself, I’ve included pictures taken without any blocking and I’ve tested the pattern in acrylic and cotton, and also working with the correct and larger hook sizes. In all cases, the design still seems to work.
Important: In order to allow this pattern to work I use the same row TWICE in moving from triangle to circle and then a later row TWICE to move from circle to square. In the instructions, I will note the shape change, but definitely expect it. Also, the move from triangle to circle does not create a flat crochet shape. Keep working through to the square and the crochet will flatten.
