Description
The #TransitionSlipover is a size-inclusive, reversible cable vest inspired by in-between seasons in life. Meandering cables mark an uncertain but adventurous path through the knitting and the wearing… and just like forks in the path in life, let them bring you through places of uncertainty and finally home, where you’re meant to be, wherever the repeat starts again. The side buttons can be opened or closed for a more dramatic split hem look, or not. One side has a scoop neck, and the other has a dramatic V neck, for endless possibilities. With a deep arm hole, this vest is perfect when layered with other knit pieces in winter or over lighter base layers in autumn and spring.

Due to popular request, a written version of all charts has been added as an additional file to this pattern but has not been tested.

Recommended ease is 4-7” / 10-18 cm of positive ease.

Sample size is size 3, shown with positive ease of 6.5” / 17 cm on model with 33” / 84 cm chest circumference.

The pattern is to sit with the shoulder lines just off the shoulder, like a dropped-shoulder construction.

As the cables are the centerpiece, it’s crucial to get gauge with a sufficiently thick enough Aran weight yarn to ensure plump and defined cables! This pattern was designed for 100% wool and it’s highly recommended to use either 100% wool yarn for the stitch memory, bounce, and cable definition. Using a plant based yarn may result in drooping.

Construction Notes
Slip all markers as they are encountered.
Garment is worked in two pieces, back and front. The arm holes are shaped with decreases, then the shoulder with short rows. The neck is a scoop shape on the first side, and V-neck on the other side. Then, the shoulders are joined using Three Needle bind-off. Side button bands and neckband are then picked up and worked.
