This cowl is a trapezoid shape that is naturally formed with the use of the ribbed pattern. I knit it in a linen blend, but wool works just as well. This knits up quickly and makes a great gift.

Trapezoid is a small cowl, meant for those breezy days when you just want to keep the chill off of your neck. It gets is trapezoid shape from change in number of ribbed stitches from top to bottom. The ribbed sections give it a subtle change in texture. I knit it in Classic Elite Yarns Soft Linen, but you may use any DK weight yarn. It will work in a solid or a self striping yarn. I like the linen blend because it softens as you wear it and becomes a deliciously soft hug around your neck.

**Gauges:
21 stitches x 32 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette
** 21 stitches and 32 rows over 4 inches in Stockinette after blocking. Gauge may vary depending on yarn type used. The linen content of the yarn made for a looser, less elastic knit. I recommend swatching.

Yarn required: Approximately 300 yards of DK weight yarn

The cowl is 10 5/8” (26.9 cm) wide and 29 3/4” (75.6cm) at its widest point.

Needles: Size 5 (3.75 MM) 16” (40cm) circular needle, or size to obtain gauge.
Stitch Markers:2 I found it helpful to use 2 different colors. One to mark the beginning of the round, the other to separate repeats.
You will also need a tapestry needle to weave in ends.

Happy Knitting!
