DNA Cable Hat Designed for the March for Science!

You can use the chart “Traveling DNA Cable basic v1” on page 1 in your own designs (see notes at bottom of the page on how to use) or you can knit a hat like mine using it and the pattern info on pages 2-3.

Aran weight yarn
Gauge (in k2p2 ribbing):
unstretched 16stitches=3” approx
stretched 8 stitches =4” approx

At this gauge you get a stretchy ribbed hat that will fit a fairly large head neatly, or can fit a smaller head as a slouchy hat. If you are knitting for an enormous head you could knit a little looser, or to better fit a small head you could knit a little tighter. But don’t worry too much so long as your ribbing is stretchy and close to gauge.

ERRATA: PDF pattern was updated on 4/3/17 at 9:40 Central Time. If you downloaded before then, it had an error in the written instructions on page 2 referring to the use of the hat top chart. Where it says “Again, after row 22, remove marker for start of round…” it should read “After row 22, remove marker for start of round, knit 6 stitches in k1p2 ribbing and then move your markers or redistribute stitches on DPNs 6 stitches to the left so this point is your new start of the pattern.”

If you notice anything else that seems wrong or confusing, please let me know and I will try to correct or explain!
