Tray Cloth
by Susan Bates
A pretty vintage thread-crochet Tray Cloth made from small square motifs joined together to create an elegant floral lace design. The finished cloth features a delicate openwork center and a substantial decorative edging with picots, giving the piece a beautifully finished border.
The cloth is constructed from individual motifs that are joined as they are crocheted, making the joining part of the design rather than requiring the motifs to be sewn together afterward.
Finished Size: 13 × 19 in. (33 × 48 cm)
Yarn: Susan Bates® Anchor Mercerized Cotton #20 (20 grams), 3 balls, selected color
Gauge: 1 motif = 2 in. (5 cm) square
Stitches Used: Chain, slip stitch, double crochet
