Tree & Ibex Socks

Knitting
July 2004
Fingering (14 wpi) ?
10 stitches and 10 rows = 1 inch
US 1 - 2.25 mm
fits size 5 or 5.5 US shoe
This pattern is available for free.

The original sock is in the collection of The Textile Museum, Washington DC.

Since Baby Georgia has long been discontinued, people have asked me what to substitute for it. Sadly, when i find a good substitute, it gets discontinued and i have to search all over again. So all i can say is search for an available yarn that’s the same size. If you want to make an historic reproduction, you’ll need 100% cotton. If it’s for your own pleasure, use whatever you can find that appeals to you.

COMMENT
Someone was using my pattern and discovered the sock it created was knit “wrong”. I am a left-handed knitter so my socks are knit “wrong”. But the pattern should be usable by right-handed knitters, too.
