Here in the Southern Hemisphere, we’re heading into winter, and what better way to get cozy than by indulging in rich cable textures! I designed this hat whilst dreaming of walking through snow-speckled woods, and it’s sure to keep you warm on your adventures too.

I didn’t want to stop there though, and also created a matching cowl pattern for this hat! As a RAVELRY ONLY special, you can enjoy a price of just $7 USD for both patterns if purchased as a set. (Discount applied automatically, no coupon code needed. Additional charges may be added to your cart depending on your location, and please note that Ravelry’s checkout can only process 1 discount per transaction.) Find the Tree Climber Cowl pattern here. Happy knitting!

SIZE
50cm (19 ¾“) circumference, relaxed after blocking, fits head circumference 49–59cm (19 ¼–23 ¼”); 21cm (8 ¼“) long

YARN
Bendigo Woollen Mills Rustic 8ply (100% Wool; 400m {437yds}/200g), 1 ball Linen Fleck colourway, or 100g DK weight yarn. For optimal results, the use of a non-superwash yarn is recommended.

Sample used approximately 75g (150m {164yds}) for hat, and approximately 20g (40m {44yds}) for pom pom.

Please note that Bendigo Woollen Mills yarn is available in 200g balls. You will only need approximately ½ of a ball if it is your choice for knitting this hat. Also note that the yardage requirements will vary depending on changes to the length of the hat, and any differences in gauge.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
3.75mm (US 5), at least 100cm (40”) length circular needle, double-pointed needles or short 40cm (16”) circular needle, or size to obtain gauge
Cable needle
Stitch marker/progress keeper (optional)
Tapestry needle
Tape measure
Scissors
Small 6.5cm (2 ½“) diameter pom pom maker (optional)

Please note that pom poms may present a choking hazard for children aged 3 years and under. If you make the hat with pom poms, you may need to include a choking hazard warning label to that effect on the finished product.

GAUGE
23 stitches x 36 rounds = 10cm (4”) in Cable Pattern Chart, knit in the round and relaxed after blocking.
