This triangular shawl begins at one tip with 3 stitches and expands along one edge to create a triangle. Increases are made only on RS rows, at the right side of the knitting, which creates the top / neck edge.
The shawl begins with a small lace motif which expands into the repeating pattern you can see in the main photo. However, if you wish to make a shawl that features just the repeating pattern you can see, I have provided a second downloadable document to instruct you how to do that. There are 3 replacement charts which slot into the beginning of the shawl - part way through the third chart you can switch back to the original pattern.

Yardage
While I used 800 metres of fingering weight yarn to complete this, I must add more yardage for account for possible gauge differences. I have added a little more again because a few of my testers seemed to use more yarn than that and I would hate for you to run out. So, at the very least you require 850 metres of yarn, but I recommend that you begin with 900 metres, and I have listed 950 in the pattern just to be safe.

The pattern documents
You will see 4 documents to download when you purchase this pattern - 2 for the English version, and 2 translated into Deutsch.

The main pattern is called Tree Fern, and the document called Alternative Beginning for entirely repeating pattern, contains all the instructions and graphs for making a shawl that features just the repeating pattern, and replaces the short stockinette section and the smaller lace motif found in the main pattern document.
