This simple tree hug can be made using small amounts of any weight yarn and hook size appropriate to the yarn you choose. In general, the tree and the heart should be of the same or very similar weights. I made mine using Fine / 2 weight yarn and a 2.75mm hook

This FREE pattern is based initially on instructions for a simple tree, which I found on the website linked below. As it is no longer deemed ‘secure’, I do not know if it is still considered active. However, the original base tree can be found here (With progress photos).

I have re-written the steps in a more readable fashion, and designed alterations that turn this tree applique shape into a RAOCK hug.

What you do with it from here, is entirely up to you!
