This pattern was inspired by a favorite vintage lace bolero I found in a thrift shop. Its cropped length and 3/4 sleeves make it a perfect layering piece. The bolero works as well with jeans and a t-shirt as it does with a party dress. The pattern is knit in one piece in a classic trellis lace pattern and seamed at the sides before edges are finished with a simple k1 p1 rib.

Size 7 circular needles are preferable for the ribbing.

One 3/4” button is required for finishing.

The lace pattern is extremely stretchy, and along with the dolman style sleeve, this top drapes nicely and is very forgiving. Following are the finished measurements for the garment, unstretched. Approximate measurements for sizes XS, S, M, L, 1X, 2X, and 3X, respectively:

Bust: 35 (37.5, 39.5, 42, 44.5, 46.5, 49) inches

Length from neckline to back hem: 12 (12.25, 12.5, 12.75, 13, 13.25, 13.5) inches

Sleeve length (from neckline to below elbow): 14 (14.5, 15, 15.5, 16, 16.5, 17)
