This scarf has a slightly unusual shape as you can see. I wanted the tapered ends of a triangular shawl with the time/yarn saving shallowness of a scarf. A trapezium is just right for that.

Starting with the shorter of the two parallel sides, you work trellis stitch, increasing at each edge until your scarf is the length you want. I recommend a long edge measurement of about 180cm/70”.

The simple edge increases and the carefree trellis stitches in between are perfect for crocheting while chatting or TV viewing. You only need to concentrate a little at the sides then you’re back to the regular trellis stitch creating a lovely stretchy squishy fabric to keep you snug.

The design uses a non-chain starting foundation because I wanted the stretch on that edge to match the rest of the garment. In addition, this foundation allows you to just start working – there are no instructions to begin by chaining a gazillion here - you just make foundation loops until that side is as long as you want. I recommend a short edge measurement of about 100cm/40”.
