The Tri Shawlette is a very easy project a beginner level. It is a versatile design and can be made in any weight of yarn.
It would also suit the experienced knitter looking for a simple quick project. The garter stitch allows the yarn to shine and it would be perfect for your favourite hand dyed yarn and/or fade set.

Pattern notes:

Yarn: I recommend one 100g/400m skein of 2ply/lace and 4ply/fingering weight yarns. Two 100g/200m skeins of 8ply/DK and 10ply/worsted/Aran weight yarns. Four+ 100g skeins of chunkier/bulky weight yarns.
It is a great scrap buster project. You can even double strand different colours and up your needle size to make a unique scrap buster shawlette.

Needles/gauge: There is no gauge requirements for the shawl you can use which ever size needle gives you the stitch definition you are most happy with. For a guideline you couod use: lace 3mm, 4ply/fingering 3.5 to 4mm, 8ply/DK 4.5 to 5.5mm, 10ply/worsted 5.5 to 6.5mm

Stitch legend:
Co: Cast on.

Sts: Stitches.

K: knit

Sl1pwyib: Keeping your yarn at the back, Insert your needle as if you are about to make a purl stitch, slip the stitch from the left hand needle to the right hand needle. If you don’t like the bar tack look of this edging a regular sl1p can be substituted, however your curve will be gentler.

Kfb: Knit into the front and the back of the same stitch.

K2togtbl: Knit two stitches together though the back loops of the stitches.

K1tbl: Knit though the back loop of the stitch
