Mostly, I design shawls, but current fashion trends appear to be moving toward ponchos so I have decided to “stick my toe into the water” and create a poncho that is based on a classic triangular shawl. Two identical shawls are worked separately then joined along the long edge to create this poncho.

Shawls can be joined using kitchener stitch, 3 needle bind off, or bound off and sewn together at the shoulders. The technique you use will not affect the overall look of your garment.

Simple pattern stitches are used to create interesting texture. Model used 2 skeins of Done Roving DK Gradient Transitions, 100% superwash merino, (500 yd/457 m, 6 oz/170 g), color: Tumbleweed and Sage
