With this tutorial you can crochet the beautiful asymmetrical triangular shawl “Helike” - a variation of the symmetrical shawl “Themis”.

The pattern is aimed at a little advanced crocheters who can cope well with the stitches listed below. The shawl is asymmetrical, increases are made on one side only. The edge can be crocheted as wide as you like, or omitted if you wish.

The pattern includes a written description of each row and a crochet chart if you prefer this type of pattern. If you’ve worked with front post/back post double crochet stitches before, and the stitches listed below are nothing new, you will for sure not have any issues with the pattern. However, in case you have - I am very happy to help!!

Stitches and techniques used:

  • chain stitches
  • single crochet
  • half double crochet
  • double crochet
  • treble
  • front post double crochet
  • back post double crochet
  • crochet stitches together
  • crochet several stitches into one stitch

The shawl shown in the photos has the following size: 130 x 130 x 190 cm.

If you use different wool, a different crochet hook size, or generally crochet looser/tighter, the size may of course vary a little.

The following materials/tools are needed:

  • crochet hook 3.5 mm
  • scissors
  • needle for sewing the ends
  • optional: stitch markers
  • pins for stretching the shawl
