The triangular scarf “Xanthis” is an asymmetric scarf that is crocheted in a special way - the pattern is not crocheted along the rows, but rather from bottom to top. It requires a bit of attention, and is therefore intended for advanced crocheters (beginners might have difficulties).

The pattern includes additional rows (written and in the chart) so that you can make it large and cozy if you want!

The pattern is intended for advanced crocheters.

Following stitches are used:

  • chain stitch
  • single crochet
  • double crochet
  • treble
  • front post double crochet
  • back post double crochet
  • increase (of front post/back post double crochet stitches)
  • crochet stitches together

The pattern is devided in several files:

  • File 1: general pattern - includes general information, used stitches and abbreviations, needed tools and material, written description of each row, tutorial on special stitches
  • File 2: crochet chart of all rows and stitches (ATTENTION: the chart is very large and devided into several sections - there is no repeating part in the rows and therefore the complete chart is drawn)
  • File 3: file with additional rows to make a larger scarf

The triangular scarf shown on the images has following dimensions: 120 x 120 x 165 cm (stretched).

I used 1200 m wool, the scarf is not too large as I want to wear it beneath my jacket. If you prefer larger scarfs, I recommend to use 1400-1500 m, the pattern includes enough rows to use this amount of material.

Following tools are needed:

  • crochet hook 3 mm
  • scissors
  • sewing needle
  • pins for stretching
