Light and warm, this simple shawl is characteristic of Orkney design: it is simple and effective. It knits up quickly, and can be worn in many ways.

The shawl uses Cat’s Paw and Old Shale on a garter stitch ground. The centre is knitted first, stitches are picked up along the row ends and the border is knitted outwards. Finally a small border is knitted along the top edge.
