This shawl is one of a series of knit and crochet accesories, that are designed to celebrate the beautiful colors and interesting patterns of the birds we see in our own gardens, and also birds from all over the world.

Shawl Measurements:
Length: 85” / 215cm
Top Edge to Bottom Point: 29” / 74cm
(For a smaller size shawl simply select a thinner yarn and corresponding size needles)

Materials Used:

  • 90cm circular knitting needles size 4mm
  • Your favorite Double knit weight yarn, I used Elle Pure Gold DK (100g = 258m) in colors: Beige (Moon Stone 042 (200g), White (Lily 033 (100g), Light Grey (Silver 056 (100g), Medium Grey (Mist 203 (100g), Dark Grey (Titanium 201) (200g), Black (Caviar 069 (100g).
  • Stitch Markers
  • Row counter (optional)

The shawl is designed to not need aggressive blocking so a good quality acrylic or even cotton blend yarn can be used. It uses garter stitch and the German Short Row Method to create the shaping and color pattern.
Each color section is completed before moving on to the next color section, and because of this unique design, you will not need to change colors by twisting strands or carry multiple skeins of yarn along the back of the work. (you will only twist strands on the top border on the final row of the shawl)
It is also designed to not be a complicated knit so it would be suitable for an advanced beginner, but interesting enough for the advanced level knitters out there.
